Pros

Overall, working for BK has been a fulfilling and engaging experience. I have gained so much knowledge, experience, and had many growth opportunities. The owners are very passionate about what we do, and in general they are reasonable to work for. Most of my coworkers are fantastic and I really enjoy collaborating with them. The work itself is challenging, but I usually enjoy it. Generally the people supervising me have been open to new ways of approaching goals. Overall working for BK is a positive experience.

Cons

During big projects (there are always several going on as we are growing quickly), there can be very high expectations to finish and meet very high standards. There is pressure to put everything else aside and get the job done no matter what it takes, which is the main issue I have with the company. While it is good that the management is passionate about the company's mission and philosophy, they do sometimes make decisions based on emotions rather than what is best for the company and it's employees. I have also never had an official review or evaluation in the time I have worked there.

Chaotic.

Pros

Staff was willing to assist one another.

Cons

Management was disorganized and the staff hired were inadequately trained to deal with the needs from the children they were required to handle. Management was very much do as I say not as I do. Extremely high turn over rate. High stress.

Pros

The children and their families.

Cons

No resources (cups, plates, napkins, untensils) frequently no milk for meals (3x month and up) or supplies for science projects or basic materials like glue sticks and paper. Staff are made to lean on each other and students are often in developmentally inappropriate mixed age groups (2 year olds in the five year old class for example) because of lack of staff. All teachers need time to prepare lessons and nap time is not preparatory time. It might work for some but definitely not all. Children in the twos group spend a large part of their day in the hallway of the facility, and aside from pick up and drop off time the lights are always turned off for this classroom. Lastly, management is highly punitive and unpredictable. If you like transparency, this is not the workplace for you.
