Pros

Burt's Bees was a highly entrepreneurial place to work. Small enough that you could have a high degree of responsibility and variety in your work. A place which rewarded + encouraged passion heroic efforts and risk taking. Environmental Sustainability is for real (discussed further in cons). Great brand. Some great people.

Cons

Unfortunately, bigger is not better. Many of the traits listed under "Pros" have been bleached out by Clorox and bureaucracy is an unfortunate necessity stemming from years of growth. Now is the time to toe the company line and communicate about aligning synergies in Oakland-speak. re: sustainability. Make no mistake that Burt's Bees is a yellow company trying to be green. It talks the talk and is great with a soft hand on marketing that aspect of the brand. However, the real commitment is not all encompassing nor felt by all employees. Change will continue.
