Pros

I’ve been working at Butterfly Effects for almost three years now and I’ve seen the company transform for the better. Management is a good mix of corporate leaders and behavior analysts. Training is improving as well with the introduction of the Mentor Program and online study groups. There are a lot of professional development opportunities for dedicated RBT to become trainers/mentors. BCBA’s receive on going support, CEUs, and benefits as well.

Cons

The company is rapidly growing so some systems are becoming outdated and may not be as efficient/effective for the new company culture and size. However, management is well aware of these concerns and are actively brainstorming ways to improve the hiring and training process. I am hopeful the company is growing and improving in the right direction.

Fun Job, Terrible Compensation

Pros

* If you like working with children, the job is fun and meaningful. * The hours are flexible, and full time status is meet when you work 30+ hours for 4 months. * Direct supervisor (BCBAs) are supportive, respectful, and professional. Their feedback is always thoughtful and meaningful.

Cons

* HR is difficult to contact, and it often requires several attempts to get answers back from them. * Benefits are not great, and were not explained correctly. For example, I was told I would get health insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay after working 30+ hours for 3 months straight. I was only offered insurance after 4 months of working 30+ hours, and after I reached out to several people in HR for a month. * As a full time RBT, you will NOT be given paid time off or holiday pay like other full time employees. * There were several times that was not paid for work that I did. Like when it took too long to fill out billing paperwork, and I had to complete it at home. * It is a traveling job, but not always paid for travel / milage. You could be sent to a home that requires 45 minutes of drive time, and if you didn't work somewhere else an hour before that scheduled appointment, you will only be paid for 5 minutes out of 45 minutes of drive time.
