Pros

I formed close friendships with many coworkers, which positively impacted the workplace environment. Some members of upper management were very supportive and genuinely cared about my growth and success within the company. Additionally, the company provided excellent resources for professional development, including conferences, certification programs, and tuition assistance. The pay was decent for the area, and it was a great place to learn from others about your specific skill, grow, and become more knowledgeable in your position.

Cons

Senior management displayed blatant narcissism and a relentless ‘just get it done’ attitude, showing zero respect for the time and effort put into projects. They regularly dismissed employees’ passion and expertise, imposing their own ill-informed decisions. The product development processes were a complete disaster, with disorganized and chaotic management. Last-minute changes were forced onto the development team without any regard for timelines, leading to excessive after-hours work. These rushed efforts were often trashed immediately if sales didn’t spike within a day. Communication was toxic, with some individuals behaving inappropriately and disrespectfully towards both superiors and subordinates, creating a hostile work environment filled with constant negativity. One department held disproportionate control over decisions despite lacking the necessary expertise. This fostered a culture where employees felt belittled and inferior, with senior management frequently talking down to them, demonstrating a complete lack of empathy for their hard work. The company’s obsessive focus on sales disregarded essential processes. Additionally, as a family-run business, certain employees with the family name wielded undue decision-making power, even if the majority opposed their decisions.

Pros

As someone who never thought they'd go into a software engineering career, this position was easier to land than at other companies as the technical interview is quite easy. It's been a good place to learn the basics, but do not stay here for more than a year.

Cons

Terrible pay. Long hours (only if you're good though). You get rewarded for being a good worker by getting more hours and responsibilities. The managers directly over me are actually very good, but they are quite overworked as they are the most knowledgeable and C Spire won't hire enough people to make sure they are not always the ones to pick up any slack. The same goes for any senior developers or SA's. Usually they're very good, but quite overworked. This is what you have in store for you if you stay at C Spire. Terrible pay and more hours. As I progress in my position, I'm beginning to receive more and more work and it's hard to keep up. Benefits are meh at best. They don't compare to the industry standard in Software Engineering roles.
