Questionable Hours at Best.

Pros

The administrators are usually extremely understanding, and you can get vacation time off at the drop of a hat. If you're gone for a week, the administrators will not give you a lot of crap for it. If you're a Mathematics tutor, you will receive decent hours (20–30 hrs/week) all year round. On a side note, because most teacher credential programs require teaching students, this is a decent way to earn some of those hours. If you want to work somewhere either for the summer (the most profitable time of the year), or a year or so, this place is great.

Cons

It is obvious after having worked at C2 Education for years that the Tutors are seen more as a renewable resource instead of people to invest in. If you're an English Tutor, you're going to get bad hours (2–10 hrs/week). There are no benefits here, and tutors are dedicated part-time employees. It is nearly impossible to move up in this company.

Pros

Regular hours, and plenty of them. Great students and parents, at least in the city—I heard that suburban centers are somewhat overrun with 'tiger mom' types, however. Almost complete autonomy in teaching style and methodologies.

Cons

3-on-1 is not a sustainable teaching model, especially with students of radically different ages and attention spans. There were some sessions where I would be tutoring a 7-yr-old, a 13-yr-old, and a 17-yr-old in the same cubicle. While I (and my students) had the good humor to pull off this kind of arrangement, I have to say that I think the quality of education suffered as a result.
