Pros

I loved working with the students.

Cons

(College Station, TX) Management acted like I was entitled and greedy for wanting more than the paltry 5-10 hours I was typically given a week. They also forced me to tutor English as a Second Language, and when I told them I was unqualified, they bought a book and expected me to prep without pay on my own time. I was never paid for prep work, despite corporate policy. I was told to come early and prep, and when I refused and informed my boss that making me work for free is illegal, he basically brushed me off. The pay is WAY too little for tutoring, even if you only have a bachelor's.

Pros

Good students Free to tutor and adjust a student's curriculum as you see fit. Relatively decent pay for a part time job, though underpaid for the same reasons most companies under pay their employees at the moment Evening hours during school year if you like that kind of thing Despite glaring issues on the corporate end, there are some great, dedicated tutors who know how to make it work, because they are clearly far more invested in their students progress than their working conditions might reasonably allow, somehow. The naturally talented tutors, and C2's relatively low tuition rates are the only good thing about it.

Cons

Only nominally existent training for tutors. Teaching materials devoid of lessons yet replete with errors so frequent and egregious that trying to teach from them and expecting students to learn from them is an exercise in futility that obliterated what little confidence or motivation most students are already lacking C2's PR team talks the talk flawlessly, but theory and practice have nothing to do with each other.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We agree that our tutors are among the best! It takes a special kind of person to develop the rapport that makes learning truly enjoyable. Our tutors are encouraged to craft individualized study plans to fit the student's needs which is one thing that sets us apart from other tutoring companies. The 3:1 teaching model supports this approach by ensuring our teachers are able to provide tailored and interactive learning environments. We continue to improve our training to provide more tools and support around how to balance the various needs of our students in a 3:1 setting. Most recently, there has been a complete redesign of our training program, with a huge focus on the “C2 Way” of teaching. Groups of new hires train together which allows for engagement and a sense of community from the start. We hope you will agree that these types of improvements will enrich the C2 experience with teachers who don't just teach subjects or testing skills; they teach life skills.

Cons

Working in 3:1 ratio can occasionally be difficult Depending on management, schedule might change abruptly
