Pros

The schedule is pretty flexible and the centers have a lot of teaching materials available. Hours are generally pretty flexible, although some times you're limited by when students show up.

Cons

The hours are all nights and weekends, but that's the nature of tutoring. Most sessions you have to work with three students at a time which can be a challenge and limit your ability to help a student work through a problem.

Pros

The hourly pay actually is decent for a tutoring agency. Students are generally studious, supervisor brings bagels on Saturdays. C2 provides pretty good materials for test prep, and you seldom have to wonder what you are going to teach.

Cons

Hours are few and unpredictable. You must be super-flexible, as you might receive or lose classes on the fly, and you shouldn't depend on this to pay any bill that will require some consistency. Also, you will be at the center doing planning and paperwork much longer than you will be paid for. The paperwork is tedious, but finish quickly or you will be standing in line behind all of the other tutors at the end of the day who are giving their reports. Sometimes you will be at the center until 10:00 pm, (your paid workday ends at 9) finishing paperwork and waiting to report on your day. You will also need to arrive a good half hour before hand to print materials and plan, which you also are not paid for. Also, you do have to sign a ridiculous non-competition agreement upon beginning employment that says you cannot work as a private or agency tutor for TWO YEARS after you have worked for C2.

Pros

Great, friendly, small business atmosphere at individual centers

Cons

Poor pay, shift work, so you never know if you'll have hours or not
