Breadth of products; exposure to emerging software areas

Cons

Legacy reputation; politics; information is not always efficiently communicated throughout the organization. Change occurs too frequently (yearly) in the field; and therefore, real change (which takes time) can be thwarted.

Pros

It is a large organization with some of the strengths that normally acompany size, including multiple locations world-wide and extensive back-end resources. The company has a wide range of solutions for enterprise IT organizations and has made some good acquisitions in the last five years or so. The company's core mainframe business is largely in legacy mode, but that is counterbalanced by newer product lines which have extended reach into client/server and desktop areas.

Cons

There is less than ideal communication within the organization, particularly in a vertical direction. This makes for difficulty in understanding corporate direction and the internal politics within various business units.

Pros

Company is shifting away from acquisitions and starting to focus on organic growth from within. Upper management is pushing the company in the right direction and the high level goals seem well aligned with industry expectations.

Cons

Big company politics: people pushing their own agendas at the cost of the technology. Execution of managements vision is lacking in some areas and their continues to be an overall problem that product teams across BUs have little or no communication.
