Pros

They have very good work life balance, and get off Friday's at 4:30pm. Typically the culture is pretty friendly and open, but this can vary depending on what team you are on. Senior Management are all very nice, willing to spend time with the rank & file, and are mostly excellent, with a few exceptions.

Cons

Unless you are an advisor (salesperson), you are not going to make much money. They pay well below market averages (several co-workers who left got immediate offers for 20-40k/year more for very similar positions in similar markets) for pretty much every support person, and will basically argue that the benefits and culture make up for it. Also, the culture changed much from when I started to when I left. At the beginning, CAPTRUST was much more generous with benefits, raises, bonuses, & policies; when I left, they tightened up a lot. It felt much more like a corporate giant when I left. Career advancement is not a reality here, as a middle-sized company, if you do well in the associate roles, they don't have anywhere to put you. Many successful associates end up leaving after 2-3 years because they get frustrated with this. Also they don't really recognize the value of designations- many of my colleagues would get no pay raise when they passed the CFP or CFA, which generally means their value on the market increased a lot.

Pros

Early release on Friday afternoon.

Cons

No ability to work remotely, not even for snow days. No opportunity for advancement. No support from managers or leaders. No women or BIPOC in leadership positions. Was not paid a competitive wage. Did an exceptional job my first year there and my boss got a promotion out of it and I got NOTHING. She didn't do anything that first year, but gossip and train me to do her entire job.
