Pros

The mission-alleviating poverty through women/girl empowerment. The legacy-started 80 years ago with the CARE package! The people-smart, articulate people who care.

Cons

It’s a large, complex organization facing all the same challenges as any other of its size.

Pros

Hybrid flexible work, good benefits, kind colleagues.

Cons

Office politics and staffing turnover, as common in the whole sector, especially since the pandemic.

Pros

High level of technical expertise on staff. Competitive 401K contribution after 15 months of full-time employment. Annual leave of 25 day/year for those who can take that time off. Really nice people! Corporate management team seems to genuinely want to improve work-life balance.

Cons

Poor and/or non-existent internal systems and structures for program and financial monitoring and management. Hiring and annual merit-based increase freezes for all US-based staff (2024). Limited/no unrestricted funds available for employee professional development (e.g., training, travel). Constant high staff turn-over. Low base salaries relative to others in comparable fields/roles.

We know that many of our internal systems are not as up to date as would be ideal, and we are trying to find ways to improve them. For Learning and Development, we have access to many courses on both CARE Academy and LinkedIn Learning - the vast majority of these do not require your department to provide funding. We also have a partnership with eCornell, where we get a reduced price on courses and certifications. Please check with your HR Business Partner about how you might access these training and development opportunities.
