Pros
Most jobs are simple work, its not exhausting or physically straining. Theres a variety of jobs, some straight forward some required more attention to detail, such as the inspection ones. My supervisor, was helpful and friendly, she seemed to sympathise with issues that people had in how things were run and brought it up with upper management, that didn't seem to care. The other production operators are generally friendly and helpful aswell, alot of older people as the work isnt physically demanding, they can make the shifts go alot faster. You're usually left alone to do your work. On my station, alot of overtime was available. You'll work a 3 shift rotation, so you always know when your shifts are and what time well in advance.
Cons
The work is mind numbingly boring, if you're on your own you'll be checking the time every 30 seconds. There's nothing to keep your mind occupied. Its very loud. Half the chairs are broken, whilst management make sure they had larger comfy chairs in the middle. You share 1 large room with management, engineers and supervisors. The engineers are very helpful, nice guys. They tend to have different opinions on how things should be done. There's alot of production issues, as an operator its partly your responsibility to deal with them, you can only do so much with the minimal training you've been given. Even with production issues that could half the amount of good parts you can produce, management will stick a little target sheet up infront of you saying you're very behind.
