Pros
When I was new to the job, the supervisor who hired me worked there for a long time, she is fair and just, and some of the senior co-workers were very helpful and supportive to newcomers. I like to work in sales and I like talking to people and selling. There are times that I enjoy my work and knowing that I sold many items. I personally felt it rewarding to know that I made sales that day and all the hard work, pain and suffering paid off. This is a good job if you got nothing else going on in your life. It can help you fill the gap while looking for a decent job that will treat you with respect and dignity. What I like about this work is they give employment to retired seniors which is hard to come by because the reality is, there are companies out there that no longer hire older candidates. This is a good starting job for students in college. Maybe they also hire former offender because there is a couple of employees that has a prison inmate mentality. So kudos to CDS for hiring for and giving jobs to these demographics. I wonder maybe the work culture at their corporate office is different, maybe it is better there than the culture inside Costco.
Cons
The younger supervisor and co-workers are rude, belittling, and very demeaning. They are insecure and they will do the best they can to make your day very difficult, they will even sabotage you. It's a narcissist bullying to its finest. Standing up for 6 straight hours took a toll on my back. I go home every night with back pain and end up going to see a chiropractor frequently. It's a minimum wage job so my earning went to doctor's visit instead of putting food on my family's table. Some of the club members (people shopping at Costco) are very entitled, they treat you like crap. The job is labor-intensive and the income does not commensurate with the value you bring to the company. This job is a pivotal point in my life, it made me realize that I deserve something better and to find an organization that has professionalism among co-workers and middle management. This is a hodgepodge of Orwellian totalitarian regime ruled by younger supervisors and her army of neo-Marxists.
