Tedious, but High Paying

Pros

$11 an hour is great pay for a part time job. I'm a college student and CDS pays by far more than other companies that tend to hire people my age (I'm 20).

Cons

It is the most dreadful way to spend six hours. It's just so utterly boring. I worked at a fast food joint before this and although I got paid $7.15 and was constantly working I minded it less. You just sit there at a silver cart waiting for someone to come along and ask about your product. You'd think you'd be thrilled to finally have someone to talk to, but Costco's customers tend to be senior citizens, they're usually trying to fill up on samples so they don't have to pay for lunch or they're complaining about something in the store that is beyond your control. It's depressing, I try my hardest to be patient. There aren't any raises. They hardly ever promote from within. There is a rewards program where you get points for selling a lot of your product, but you have little influence on how well a product sells, appealing products meet to quota, lousy products don't. Majority of the managers I've had have been horrible. The ones that I liked either quit or got fired. Their superior psychologically abused them all. Most of the employees are between 18-24 and 55-80 (yes 80). The older employees aren't accommodated well. They also tend to make the older employees do the demonstrations that are physically harder. I really don't understand why. I'm searching for more fulfilling work. Literally anything. I don't care how much it pays, as long as it isn't this.

Pros

Something different every day. Good people to work with and a reasonable rate of pay for a part time job.

Cons

Business is pandemonium close to major holidays and can be stressful. Customer attitudes have to be tolerated no matter how abusive they become.

Good as part-time job.

Pros

Starting rate is higher as compare to other part-time jobs. Co-workers are all helpful and supportive as well as the manager.

Cons

No career advancement and benefits. Can only work for few days. Need to meet the sales goal for the day in order to not lessen the work days.
