Pros

Just by the sheer limit of tech jobs in Southwest Virginia, CGI is really only one of two options. If you can't find anything better elsewhere, you might come here.

Cons

Expectations are high, training on meeting those expectations are low. Promotions are given to those who have no leadership experience and it shows. Morale is horrible. Bonuses are treated unfairly. Weekends and late nights are expected and you're expected to be in the office, but "flex" time and working from home was promised in the beginning. Salaries and raises are pitiful. I could go on...

Pros

Low stress; easy, non-demanding work; mostly work eight or less hours per day; little to no travel; the people who work there are mostly nice.

Cons

Work is not challenging, and there is little to no career advancement; management is poor, and untrained, and often seems to be hiding bad news from employees (management is overly optimistic). Also, salaries are too low, with poor raises, and benefits. There is also too many non-Americans with visas working there, which is probably why salaries are low and the benefits aren't good (the non-Americans don't even realize they are being taken advantage of, when it comes to salaries and benefits). If you are American, you are definitely in a minority, and may feel alienated, and would probably make more money and receive better benefits at another compnay. CGI has abused the H -1B visa system, and uses off shore people as much as possible.

Pros

Desire to work with pleasant people and have a flexible work schedule.

Cons

Unformed corporate services infrastructure, 'drink the kool ade' ring to internal communications, sales-driven culture, absence of robust leader-of-the-pack strategic plan; heads of CGI still think it's a small company in an industry that will forever be expanding - this is not the case, and the IT consulting industry will eventually pass it by if it doesn't realize that a sales force making a certain number of sales calls per week should not be the core measure for business development.
