Pros

Great place to work at the corporate level where associates are generally immune from the layoffs and reduction in hours faced by facility-level employees. Great pay and benefits for executives.

Cons

CHRISTUS hides behind its stated faith-based mission but as a practical matter it operates no differently than its for-profit competitors. The senior leadership group takes care of itself with seven-figure base salaries and seven-figure annual bonuses. It’s eye-opening and disheartening once you understand that the dedication to the “mission” is in reality a facade.

Pros

love the co-workers and most of the management/directors

Cons

low pay, due to being a non-profit. they dont compare our benefits/pay accordingly with healthcare. we only receive a flat $1,200 year end bonus, unless you have a manager and up title, then you receive at least a 10% bonus. the annual merit increase, or raise, is only 2%. Christus will not entertain a proper cost of living adjustment due to inflation or a standard 5-6% year end raise. yet our CEO will take over a $7 million year-end bonus (most of us believe this is from the government provided covid money, since the year before covid he took a $1.5 million bonus)

Beware of PTO

Pros

Big on mission and serving the underserved and vulnerable populations. I personally have a wonderful leader and a great team.

Cons

PTO policy had a major change, cutting hours after year one from 240 to 184. No additional hours until you’ve served TEN YEARS. On top of this massive cut, they force holidays and sick leave out of PTO, with many forced cultural days, leaving you with very little time for vacation time with family. Zero flexible work options makes this even more unbearable… no flex or remote work because they’re building a shiny new building. Direction comes directly from Ernie the CEO so no chance of it changing anytime soon, and anyone complaining hears they’re “not right for Christus” from HR. Insurance not available until 45+ days of full time employment.
