Pros

Work life balance is generally fair. Benefits are reasonably good, banking benefits in particular. Company is involved in several charities.

Cons

High performing employees are often not recognized for their work or are denied internal promotions due to HR "policies". Salary is not very good relative to other companies (for technology at least). Management often not very knowledgeable about the team and/or technology they are in charge of.

Pros

It is a wholesome corporation that is trying hard to increase market share and results. It is a respectable company and makes employees proud to work for them,

Cons

Career advancement is not made easy nor encouraged. CIBC prefers to keep employees at current positions rather than help them advance onto other positions or departments.
