Pros

I really enjoy working here. The culture on the engineering team is really positive, encourages both teamwork ("only wins are team wins") and personal growth / responsibility simultaneously. Given that our products incorporate such a broad range of subjects (crop science, bayesian statistics, functional programming, etc.) there's a lot of room to "stretch" your personal capabilities by working directly with people who come from a different field. Positive team and challenging work with lots of growth opportunities.

Cons

Because the company is growing quickly, it can be challenging to make sure that our communication structures stay up to date between teams. I don't think we do a _terrible_ job at it, but we could do better.

Pros

The work is interesting. There are lots of smart people and a culture of actually working together and helping each other. The company has a serious commitment to training with the whole development group taking courses approximately every quarter and internal presentations twice a week. In general a really good group and fun to work with.

Cons

There is a lot going on in parallel which can make coordination difficult. The company has offices in two different cities and many remote workers.

Pros

Super-talented and friendly crew, team/interdisciplinary culture, sustainability mission (feed the world!), Scala/functional programming + AWS, Bayesian statistics (we are building "learning systems" using this path to AI/ML), fast-growing startup but still early enough that you get to shape the company's future. Serious commitment to training: Lunch and Learn sessions twice/week cover topics ranging from Advanced Scala to seed germination to Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulations. CiBO also does in-house training (Scala, Stan) and sends people to conferences.

Cons

Distribution of staff across multiple locations makes for communication challenges. Creativity sometimes comes with a bit of chaos.
