Pros

Working at City Furniture as a software engineer has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The company is committed to using modern technology, which has allowed me to stay at the cutting edge of the industry and continuously develop my skills. The tech stack is current and robust, making each project both challenging and exciting. One of the standout pros of working here is the exceptional work-life balance. City Furniture truly understands the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between professional and personal life. Flexible hours and a supportive work environment have made it easy to manage both work commitments and personal time. Additionally, the company culture is very collaborative and supportive. Colleagues are always willing to help and share knowledge, which fosters a great learning environment. Management is approachable and values employee input, which makes you feel like a valued part of the team.

Cons

However, there are some significant drawbacks. There hasn’t been a solid leadership plan for the tech department, which has led to enormous amounts of layoffs and disgruntled employees. This instability has created an uncertain environment that can be quite challenging to navigate. Additionally, the necessity of time tracking every ticket that a software engineer works on feels excessive and can be counterproductive. While the technology and work-life balance are top-notch, the lack of strategic direction and leadership in the tech department has negatively impacted overall morale and job security.

Thank you for your years of service and thorough feedback. It speaks not only about your appreciation of the values you mention, but it attests to your commitment to another one which is our Continuous Improvement. We'll make the IT Department aware of your feedback. In the past two years, we've made a big effort in increasing and enhancing our Leadership training so that they can improve in their roles. We are seeing good results and are working hard in making sure it is the same for all our departments.

Pros

- Great potential to earn a lot of income. - Willingness to work with your schedule, but only two standard shifts. - Very friendly corporate office, nice headquarters. - Treated very well from the higher ups. - See lots of clientele on the weekend. - Internal competitions with the chance of winning prizes. The overall company treats you, as an employee, very well. Positive and fun work culture, they try to have very engaging team meetings and include staff recognitions. They definitely promote from within, you will see many long term staff members. Quite a few people started from the sales consultant position and worked their way up.

Cons

- It can be reaaally slow during the weekdays, very boring once you've caught up on your busy work. - Almost impossible to get a weekend off. Even if it got approved, they can revoke the day off for any reason. I've seen it happen many times. - Always working holidays, it's retail. -Paid after item is delivered, not before. - Worst con is how absolutely bad the communication is between the retail, customer service, and logistic teams. Truly a nightmare and it's why I left. If a customer has an issue, you as a sales rep cannot help them. They must go through customer service by calling it in- no email or chat service. Customers will be on the phone for 3+ hours trying to get their furniture serviced or report damages made from the delivery team. Truly terrible customer service and delivery team. It was brutal having to talk to customers EVERY DAY about how something went wrong with their order or how terrible the logistics team was to them. The sheer amount of calls that come in on a daily basis, not only to the stores, but the customer call center, and online sales team, to report something that went wrong. - The turn over for the customer care team is extremely high.

Pros

Co workers, vacation , people , commission , hours

Cons

Management, sales goals are unrealistic with way to many metrics , you can penalized / fired for not selling an optional warranty they’re is is no adjusted metric for sales even if you sell well over the money received if your goal is 50k in sales a month and you sell 125k in sales a month and go over your goal by 75k and still get penalized for not selling an OPTIONAL WARRANTY
