Pros
Compensation and benefits are above average. Some of the middle managers in IT can be quite good. Plenty of variety of systems to work with.
Cons
A culture of fear persists from the Hunter Harrison days. Employees are afraid to stick their neck out and will move mountains to cover their butts. Decisions are by committee and no one ever agrees, so nothing happens unless a VP or Assistant VP says so. Short term vision, reactionary environment. At the end of the day, executives only care about moving trains and keeping the operating ratio below 60. Anything else is an afterthought.
