Pros

CNA really does want to change and if you want to be part of a change oriented organization this is the place, for many of the roles the opportunity to excel is present. The organization is positioned to truly move forward and deliver great product to its insured’s

Cons

Still mired in silos and old line insurance vision. Inequity amongst the different businesses in how employees are positioned which then creates salary unevenness. Promotions tend to be based off of who you know.

Pros

Hours are pretty decent. About 8-1.5 hour workday. Abitlity to work from home. To some degree there is flex time. People are great.

Cons

The salary is middle of the road. Advancement is somewhat difficult, but I think it is like that in most insurance companies. If there is noone leaving at the position above you, then there is nothing available.

Pros

Overall a good company to work for, where team work is promoted. More recently the Executive Management team has done a tremendous job of communicating the companies advantages and flaws and a clear road-map for where the company needs to go.

Cons

First, the cyclical nature of the Insurance industry results in regular downsizing as the company refocuses on particular lines of business within its portfolio of Property and Casualty business. Secondly, the company's Underwriting and Claims groups have had prior issues resulting in non-sufficient reserves. These inadequte results in the company getting pounded by rating agencies dragging the company lower in rankings amongst its competitors.
