      Good old boy culture . .

      Pros

      Competitive salaries. Understands the business of insurance.

      Cons

      Very conservative company and one that has gone through many business models. Challenging to work within fairly closed network of similarly minded senior and next level managers. Gap in the stated desired culture from what actually is rewarded. Not a place for work-life balance -- seems to be more comfortable with 1950's type of environment.

      Pros

      Good pay and very good benefits for the average person. Excellent pay for the truly superior party if you can prove it.

      Cons

      Anti-teamwork bonus and evaluation plans are the norm as those rated best are to get the largest bonuses and compensation increases. The ones rated best are not the team players but those in it to achieve for themselves only. Truly superior results are not recognized if you are part of corporate function while supporting a specific business while the rest of the corporate function supports corporate only.

      Pros

      Benefits are good as far as 401(k) match, PTO, employer contribution to health plan, and bonus plan. Compensation has shown steady improvement.

      Cons

      Health plan is a mess. While I've done well, I know other employees who have not made compensation growth, due to the way reviews impact salary.
