Pros

Nice cafeteria downstairs, lake view

Cons

High turn over rate and there is a reason. Higher ups just keep hiring incompetent management based on their own personal preferences and made this place a mess. You'd be surprised how many freaks in the management at this company.

Pros

Depending on business area you will be able to gain expertise in your area and have exposure to other areas through project and team assignments. Stronger areas are specialty underwriting and claim for leadership. Major defecits in Human Resources which is a revolving door in the past 6 months and IT which seems to lack Sr. level support and ability to execute since the mass layoff in 2010.

Cons

This place is steeped in red tape and VERY risk adverse. Not cutting edge in anything and seems to follow around what competitors are doing rather than forge its own road. Financials have been a problem over the years, and the major stock holder Lowes is rumored to be less than pleased regarding financial performance. Improvement happens but often too slowly.

Pros

The salary and benefits packages are very good. The salary is competitive. Also, the benefits packages is pretty good too. Health benefits, dental benefits and vision are well subsidized. There are matching contributions to the 401(k).

Cons

Poor work/home life balance. CNA is very strict about timekeeping. They do not support teleworking options despite a strong emphasis on a paperless workplace. There is a backstabbing mentality; you cannot trust the feedback you get from managers. They are very strict about corporate policies. Violation of even the most minor policies from timekeeping or reporting will result in immediate termination.
