Well compensated for cleaning up outsourced IT's mess

Pros

Generous salary and PTO, somewhat flexible work arrangements. A vast majority of coworkers are friendly and talented.

Cons

IT is outsourced beyond belief and it causes major headaches for the skeleton crew left to man the ship. When people leave, they aren't replaced and their duties get dumped onto those still around. Multiple complaints over years about an employee to HR and nothing is ever done. No clear promotion ladder.

Dynamic Environment, very smart colleagues, mission oriented. Had a gorgeous onsite world class gym, employees encouraged to use. Close to downtown Chicago landmarks, parks and shopping.

Cons

Areas are very siloed, hard to get information or make friends. Somewhat hierarchical, rigid culture.

- Pay for my field very competitive. - Flexibility with remote work if circumstances dictate. - Benefit package (401k match, PTO buy)

Cons

- "Continuous learning" is preached, but only on the job. If I wanted to take actual classes to advance my skills at a university, it wasn't supported. - Unclear goals, moving targets after team layoff and reorganization. Lack of focus and strategy. - Lack of professionalism/respect from upper management.
