The Pay, Union Employees are a dedicated group even if they under paid.
Cons
There is a major command and control leadership in the Engineering Department in the United States. No one below the level of Chief Engineer can make a decision about what happens in the field. That is 3 levels above the Supervisor. They are investigation happy on scheduled employees. They are understaffed at the Supervisor level and expect a minimum of 10-12 hours a day from their supervisors. They have having issues keeping scheduled employees because the pay is way below what other class 1 railroads pay.
