Very flexible work policy, telecommuting, work life balance, if in the right departments it is easy to be recognized for your work and achievement, benefits are fantastic; great first job (just move on quickly!).

Cons

very silo'd departments; most of upper management have only ever worked for this organization so there is a lack of innovation and forward thinking; HR is very lacking; junior staff are generally not given enough credit;

Good mission, good place for a year, bad for growth

-Most of the employees are dedicated to the mission and are genuinely nice -Nice building -well-funded...for the time being -pretty good benefits

Cons

-Very little opportunity to move up in position beyond a certain level -Low pay and very low annual increases -Senior managers do not want to invest in lower level employees because of high turnover (catch-22) -Little consistency across departments with quality of management -Science-only focus limits the organization's potential -Relies on a few very big grants that could dry up -Complaints to HR seldom result in action -Many interns with Masters degrees and managers with only Bachelors

I worked in the Solutions department. It was quickly growing so there was work to be done. Competitive and market analysis, drafted memos, email marketing, etc. Also some really nice people working here. Right off the metro too.

Cons

Must be proactive to get work. I was the first intern Solutions had so they were unsure at times of what I should do.
