Pros

CSC has a lot of Growth opportunities, with plenty of head room. You have the ability to work in a consulting environment, within the secure confines of a large federally focused system integrator. Managers are fair, and strive to provide a reasonable work life balance. Excellent educational reimbursement program - $15K towards grad school per year, compared to $5K for Booz and other competitors.

Cons

There are plenty of silos. Departments are often territorial, and rarely collaborative. Management sometimes tends to get caught up in the past. CSC has traditionally been down in the trenches, pulling cables and connecting servers. Therefore it's consulting offering does not share the same brand equity as competitors, like Accenture, IBM and Booz.

Pros

A big international company involved in many different markets and sectors. One of the oldest, and with a bright history. It has long-date partnerships with some of the oldest and most important companies of the country, and it's a good start if you want to get involved and get in touch with other people doing your same work.

Cons

Poor technical competencies in the bureaucratic management, no training, poor salary and little rewards. The compensation is low, compared even to the poorest countries in the world. Sales people has the bad habit of just sitting at their own desk and waiting for business opportunities to arrive, mostly because their salary is by most part fixed. This means that while waiting for opportunities, all the consultants must be kept idle. Being idle means that training would be too costly, and this brings personal competency growth to zero. There is not an R&D department inside the various country subsidiaries, to cut costs, and management firmly believes that the consultants will have plenty of opportunities to learn from the field. Customer satisfaction is not even taken into account. The top management is willing to spend something in terms of training and research just once an opportunity has arrived and the contracts have been signed, always too late.

Pros

Multinational company in 8 different countries presents opportunities within the company. Company is risk adverse and tends to stick with what they know. Striving to excel and demonstrate your value above and beyond your role (as you would with any company) will get you noticed. CSC tends to take care of its employees.

Cons

Old school business model. The company is very large and do not demonstrate flexibility and innovativeness as with smaller companies. You can easily become lost in here and not take advantage of great resources made available to its employees. There may be intellectual stovepipes but the company is committed to improve collaboration, improve leveraging its deep resources.
