At a recent meeting we were told that compensation won't change and if you don't like it here go work somewhere else "no one is putting a gun to your head". It was hilariously callous.
Also was noted that we should appreciate that we don't have to be on call or work weekends. That's not because it's necessary, or they are sparing us the pain, it's because the customer doesn't want to pay for that level of support, presumably because they have OT in their contracts or employment arrangements.
So it's a perk that the customer is cheap?
So we should appreciate 8 hours a day (40 hours a week) because CSC is obeying the law?
The mentality is that you're just "lucky" to work there.
It is an outrage to wish for increase of your compensation when the company profits from your extra efforts during crunch time. Our concerns as employees are trivial. Again, don't like it, go somewhere else.
The company can't claim but.. but.. but.. we give you vacation time, which you're either never supposed to take (you're not a team player) in order to meet some arbitrary billable time pulled out of some MBA's backside or they demand you use it by certain dates (so they meet their numbers). The current target is 13 days or less of vacation and sick combined.
Long timers who banked vacation either had to burn them up in 2014 (could only carry over 40) or sell them 40 cents on the dollar (if legal in their state).
*Every year* you will be paid less* than the one before it. Short of quitting or forming/joining a union I don't see that ever changing. Wonder how they'd meet their contracted deliverables if there was a walkout en masse? (*net pay - what you actually get to keep)
Maybe go two years maximum at this place or until your salary is worth 15% less than when you started and run.
How did you gain more experience, learn more skills, and yet somehow become worth less than you started?
The fawning reviews of this company must be sock puppets.
