Pros

- Flexible schedule - Understanding management - Cares about employees' wellbeing - Excellent benefits - Very competitive pay - No shortage of work - Working from home some or all of the time is generally acceptable - Reasonable expectations of engineers - Management listens to employee concerns - IT is a first class citizen here - Tools to grow your career are plentiful - Cross-team collaboration is common (virtual teams) - Several team outings each year - Takes security operations seriously - On-call expectations are not unreasonable and there is a several week buffer (in most cases) before you might be on-call again - Taking a mental health day once in a while is encouraged by management - Handling of COVID-19 procedures is among the best I've seen/heard of in a corporate environment

Cons

- Some roles are siloed - Some projects can drag on - Middle/upper management re-organizes every few years - Change control procedures can be cumbersome - Time tracking procedures are cumbersome - Some areas of the company are less accepting of automation - Some teams are less adept at working with other teams (though this is improving with the standardization of MS Teams) - Security protocols can be cumbersome at times - Global operations teams often disagree on how to do things from a technology and automation perspective between regions
