Pros

Most staff and faculty are friendly and the contact with students is a high point of this working environment. Benefits, sick/vacation leave are a plus.

Cons

Staff members are continuously overworked, underappreciated and underpaid for job requirements and overall workload. Management is not open to flexible work hours or working from home. The work day is from 8am to 5pm and your lunch is an hour/unpaid, which makes your day a 9 hour work day.

Pros

It is convenient schedule for also being a masters student. Teaching can help you review introductory physics/astronomy topics. I was pleasantly surprised that seeing students learn felt as rewarding people say it is.

Cons

Sometimes grading is tedious (particularly for the astronomy lab). Pay could be a bit better compared to other schools (UCs for example), but CSU tuition is also less than a UC.
