      Pros

      Pension is great - 5 years and you're vested. Benefits are awesome. Union is decent

      Cons

      Major politics on campus. No one wants to give raises. Staff is under appreciated and overworked. Little to no flexibility in regards to work hours. There are a lot of micromanagers throughout campus - Beware! Union blocks bad employees from getting fired.

      Very good experience worth repeating

      Pros

      I worked as an adjunct here for a semester. I had a wonderful time. The campus is nice and cheery, the students seem happy to be there and it was just a great experience. My colleagues were outgoing and helpful. Department chair was helpful, pleasant and the kind of boss you'd want to have.

      Cons

      As an adjunct, you're not going to get rich. It's also hard to find a full-time gig or adjunct with security of employment position here. However, that's pretty much the case everywhere.

      Pros

      The students work in earnest. And the proximity to Los Angeles and beach cities is nice.

      Cons

      The challenges of working here are that if you are an intelligent, informed, and motivated academic you will find yourself wanting to pull out your hair when nothing in the entire system of governance is logical or timely.
