Pros
As a board member, my role is to represent the interests and concerns of the student body. I work with other members of the board, the elected executive officers, and the ASI staff to ensure that the organization is fulfilling its mission. ASI’s mission is to enhance the college experience for all students at CSUF by promoting student success, providing involvement opportunities, and fostering a sense of community on campus. In my role, I am responsible for representing the interests and concerns of the student body to the administration and other campus groups. I participate in bi-weekly meetings of the Board of Directors and help make decisions that guide the work of the organization. I am also responsible for serving on committees and task forces that focus on specific areas of concern to the student body or the organization. I currently sit on the Audit, Finance, and Intructiinally Related Activities committees. ASI and the board of directors are also responsible for acting as a liaison to other Campus organizations. Being a board of directors member also requires me to be accessible and responsive to the students I represent so I can listen to their concerns and ideas. Overall, being a board member has been a fantastic opportunity to positively impact and give back to my university, while simultaneously developing my leadership and problem-solving skills.
Cons
Overall a great experience with limited downsides.
