Pros

Pay Nice scenery on the trains Solid health/dental insurance

Cons

You have to fight for time off, no quality of life, the company uses drones and cameras on the locomotives to watch employees/discipline them. Conductors have it much worse; less pay and work perks, having to follow rules that are counterproductive and in some cases, make 0 sense.

Pros

The pay & Benefits are solid.

Cons

The schedule is absolutely terrible, they preach good benefits but what good are said benefits when you can't even schedule a day off? The crew callers will force you to work on approved days off. Overall employee morale is absolutely awful. You will spend days away from home with not a word from anyone as to when you will come home. You're essentially getting hired to get fired. The company is actively trying to talk the FRA and STD into removing the position entirely, so firing you makes it that much easier.

Pros

Great pay and Benefits. That’s it.

Cons

The list is huge for Cons. No family life, and all employees are worked like dogs. Management looks for every opportunity to fire new hires. Union is non-existent. I would stay away from a railroad career.
