Pros

I've worked at CT for 2 years and 10 months. It has been an overall excellent career choice. I joined as an Assistant Copy Strategist and earned multiple promotions into a senior position after two years. I think my favorite aspect of Coalition is the open culture of ideas. Management is constantly open to feedback on how to improve how we work, as well as how to remove or reduce any work that slows us down unnecessarily. Ideas for improvement are judged on their own merits, regardless of who they came from. I've seen this result in tremendous opportunities for people who proactively identify and solve problems, not just do the work they're assigned. I've had the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of accounts in all sorts of industries. While I work in the LA office, the company is very open to and set up well for remote work. My co workers are in many different cities in the USA, and many countries around the world. I have been here long enough to see the work culture change from one more prone to micromanagement into one with a much greater value on autonomy. Messaging has gone from "follow the process" to "think like a CEO". The evolution is very welcome.

Cons

TimeDoctor gets a lot of criticism for fair reasons. I understand it as a necessity for keeping such a large remote team, but it should be a consideration for new applicants. There are two merit-based pay structures in place, including profit share and draw pay. These add up to monthly bonuses that become a significant portion of total compensation. This will be a con for most people because it can take a long time before these incentives yield great returns.

Pros

I have worked at Coalition for almost 2 years. I began as a Content Strategist, so I put my role as that for this review. CT is fast paced and always evolving. There are great opportunities here to learn and grow in digital marketing. Yes, they use time management software that feels a bit big brother like. However, can you blame them? They charge most clients by the hour so it stands to reason that they need to monitor remote employees closely to ensure that those hours aren’t being wasted. Joel and Jordan have always been open to my feedback and have taken personal time out of their days to get on calls with me. I’ve worked on accounts directly under Joel and have never once felt like he was breathing down my neck or micro managing. He has provided helpful and constructive feedback where needed. If you enjoy digital marketing, are dedicated to your job, and understand that digital marketing will NEVER be slow or easy...then CT is the perfect place for you.

Cons

Working remote makes it difficult to connect with coworkers and clients but the benefits far outweigh the cons.

We really appreciate not only your kind words here, but your ongoing efforts for our clients. Team members who dedicate themselves to the execution of their craft, the success of their clients, and building a great company at Coalition are what we hope define us. I also appreciate your perspective on our time tracking efforts- you're right, they are all about accountability. We want our clients to know that they're getting the absolute utmost value of what they paid us to deliver on. We're hoping to improve our internationally distributed team culture and connections. We recently held our 4th company talent show, which seemed to be a great intro to many of our team members. Thanks again. Jordan B

Pros

I worked at Coalition Technologies for about 1 year as a Digital Strategist. Coalition is probably the coolest digital marketing agency out there. The hiring process was intense. I took some tests, had a couple of interviews (as I remember), and submitted a short, Facebook-like video during the hiring process. I got the offer about 6-8 weeks after I originally applied. Pros: First off, Coalition provided me the opportunity to work from the comfort of my home office. Although I did venture out on a few occasions for partner or team meetings in town, the overwhelming majority of days were spent at my desk chatting with clients and prospective clients. Second, I learned a ton about how a digital marketing agency ought to run. You don't know what you don't know and didn't know how useful GSuite could be, how helpful established processes are, or how crucial good training is to a growing organization. Third, my experience with Coalition was overwhelmingly positive. The collective professionalism and abilities of my colleagues was easily the best I've experienced in my career.

Cons

From a employee perspective, it's hard to point out any improvements to be addressed. The management team was very open about wanting to improve processes and frequently queried employees about suggestions. In fact, if I didn't give feedback for individuals in the previous 7 days, a friendly reminder was sent saying it's time for more feedback. In other words, if I wanted to improve anything I just submitted the request through management (even directly to the CEO) and there was no fear of negative consequences. And they did listen to my feedback and made adjustments.
