Current Assistant to Senior Copy Strategist
Pros
I've worked at CT for 2 years and 10 months. It has been an overall excellent career choice. I joined as an Assistant Copy Strategist and earned multiple promotions into a senior position after two years. I think my favorite aspect of Coalition is the open culture of ideas. Management is constantly open to feedback on how to improve how we work, as well as how to remove or reduce any work that slows us down unnecessarily. Ideas for improvement are judged on their own merits, regardless of who they came from. I've seen this result in tremendous opportunities for people who proactively identify and solve problems, not just do the work they're assigned. I've had the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of accounts in all sorts of industries. While I work in the LA office, the company is very open to and set up well for remote work. My co workers are in many different cities in the USA, and many countries around the world. I have been here long enough to see the work culture change from one more prone to micromanagement into one with a much greater value on autonomy. Messaging has gone from "follow the process" to "think like a CEO". The evolution is very welcome.
Cons
TimeDoctor gets a lot of criticism for fair reasons. I understand it as a necessity for keeping such a large remote team, but it should be a consideration for new applicants. There are two merit-based pay structures in place, including profit share and draw pay. These add up to monthly bonuses that become a significant portion of total compensation. This will be a con for most people because it can take a long time before these incentives yield great returns.
