Part of our mission is to create careers for our employees and provide great service to our Clients. Both training, as well as having proper software/hardware, are integral to that mission. Therefore, the multitude of training activities such as conferences, user groups and internal training activities are a large part of our career development since those all lead to building a diverse skill set. If you are having trouble in either of these areas, we always encourage employees to seek out their Manager or local HR for guidance.

Great Company, Good Values

Pros

CTS has a great work culture, provides great training and opportunities, is transparent about the health of the company, and truly cares about the advancement and success of their employees. I have worked there for 1 year, and I feel like I have learned so much more in that year than I would have at many other jobs. The company is full of very intelligent people that have had years of experience, not only in writing code, but in finding business solutions for their customers, negotiating deals, designing great architecture, and serving their clients. They put a huge emphasis on the "3 Cs" - Customer, Co-worker, and Community. Our branch engages in at least 1 company fun event (putt-putt, going to a movie, throwing a party) and 1 community service event every month. They offer a wide range of internal training, as well as regular "Lunch and Learns", where an employee presents a new technology or process to anyone who wants to learn and eat free pizza. Employees have a voice and are cared for, with the goal of a 25 to 1 worker to HR ratio. Management has regular reviews with employees and asks them questions like "What kind of technologies do you want to work with?" and actually pushes for you to be involved with those technologies on a project. Promotion tracks are very clear, and if you work on projects and finish the training and certification without issues, you are basically guaranteed advancement. I enjoy going to work every day, the job is enjoyable and I love the people I work with. Great company culture isn't something an organization can buy, but CTS seems to have found a magic formula!

Cons

During my interview, I was told that employees rarely travel and only in special circumstances. On my first project, we were asked to travel 80% for 2 months, then about 40% for another 3 months. We are not travelling regularly now, but I was disappointed that this expectation was not clearly expressed. It seems that this project was a special circumstance, though; most employees do not travel regularly.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm glad to hear you have enjoyed your first year at CTS! I did want to address your concern about traveling. Traveling is actually rare at CTS because of our local model but it does happen sometimes for a few clients. I appreciate you letting us know that we need to communicate that better in the interview process. We will make the necessary adjustments. I would encourage you to talk to your Project Manager or HR Rep about your team meeting more regularly.

Pros

- Heavily involved in the growth of their employees (reimbursed certifications, training courses) - Community oriented (abundant opportunities to volunteer) - Very respectful of work/life balance (40-45 hour work week is the norm) - Clear promotion requirements - Fantastic culture (everyone is more than willing to help with anything)

Cons

There have been no cons at this point in my employment. CTS has been an incredible place to work and grow.

Pros

The boot camp training was great. I learned a lot. It's the only reason I gave CTS two stars above. The people you work with are very smart and dedicated. If I were a customer of CTS, I would feel confident that I was receiving a quality product. If you're fresh out of college, this is where you want to begin your career. Well, at least for the training when you're first hired. After that, keep your resume updated.

Cons

Pay is at the lower end of the scale here in Mobile. Management at the Mobile location was terrible. I felt like I was working in a company run by a third-world dictator. Anything and everything you say gets reported to management. Adults who are coming from other companies where open collaboration and painful truths expressed about existing processes are accepted, will not do well at CTS. I think there's a reason why there were so many younger employees at the Mobile office. Well, at least at the beginning of 2016 when I left. Older employees like myself won't put up with being treated in such a manner.
