Respect and humanity missing

Pros

good physical environment, like the nuts and bolts of the production model, the pay is pretty competitive, the benefits are competitive

Cons

The major problem with CVS is their hard-driven attempt to remove all humanity from the work setting. They have at least 50 ways to monitor you through the computer, the phones, cameras, and even the drive-thru window. This is very degrading and demoralizing. If you want to survive in this setting you have to make up your mind that you are going to live by your own standards because you are not going to live up to management's, because it is not possible. You simply must tune them out. You won't get fired. You just will never get any compliments. Do your job the way you know how, ignore your boss, and love the customers as best you can.

Pros

Job security (unless you screw up big time *and* annoy others), 401k match, work life balance/work from home days (varies by dept), stock purchase program. Some departments have a great set of intelligent people.. other departments have clock-watching 9-4:59ers.. just depends on whether you get lucky (or not).

Cons

6% salary bump for all promotions no matter what (which means your annual raise will always be 1-4% at best), benefits are constantly changing ("to align with industry") which includes cutting PTO accrual, blatant favoritism, general reluctance to get rid of incompetent workers (it takes at least 1 year to fire someone here)

Pros

Good benifits, decent pay, vacation time. Lots of employee perks while at corporate in woonsocket. Free merchandise at times.

Cons

Company treats you like a work horse, outsoarces its employee help desk to india, insources IT jobs in huge numbers. Company departments are all different some good and some run very badly. Men are paid far higher for the same grade job as woman and they do NOT LIKE when you get pregnant or sick. They find backdoor ways to fire you with no just grounds. Report issues to human services and guarantee you will loose your job. Come back from maternity leave and 6 months almost to date they will fire you. Getting access to your 401k with all help being in india takes excess time and the language barrier complicates it further.
