Pros

- There are still good people there, under Aetna Health- those that are boots on the ground. - Great salary, remote work (depending on if you live near a hub or not- they're mandating if you are close enough to go in 3 days a week now).

Cons

- New leadership took over and are making a mess of things. For example, they invested in Slack (millions of dollars) even though we use Microsoft Teams and it works better, and laid off really incredible people. Amaresh/Tracy do not value agile or people. They look at people as resources and expendable. They do not value quality engineers or design either. It used to be an amazing place to work, but now it is going down hill big time.

Pros

If you like building new things, finding new uses for data, making people healthier while also making money- there is so much opportunity here. It isn't being _realized_, but you can look and see what _could_ happen with proper leadership. If you are a senior leader who is willing to keep mouth shut about screamingly obvious poor decisions- your bonuses will be awesome. A lot of money moves through this organization.

Cons

Just like the evolution of MedStat then Truven then IBM Watson, senior leadership are all old women (look it up, that is a fact at the time of this writing, not opinion) who are more interested in blame than building something new , nurturing it, and letting it grow and thrive independently. Recent example: spending over 6B (about 5x annual earnings, so that's typical) on a health care company that has 2B in annual revenue but LOSES 500 million annually. Solution- built out 50 new clinics for that clunker, we lose a lot on every clinic but we make it up in volume, right?? And massive layoffs of the folks who know what they are doing to help pay for this poor series of decisions. Not a good time to be a male in this organization, either.

Pros

Remote flexibility is positive. Karen Lynch is a good person and leader but has lost control of the Aetna division which is dysfunctional. At one time there was also a sense of CVS Aetna being a big company with a small company mindset. That has changed since the combining of CVS and Aetna.

Cons

2022 management choices and decisions were misguided. VPs loyal to outgoing leadership are at war with lieutenants who are seeking to carve out kingdoms for themselves while senior leadership is transitioning and likely to be replaced. Very hostile workplace. Good people are leaving or being terminated to make room for inexperienced, malicious micromanagers.
