Pros
CVS has good medical benfits. They offer the opportunity for advancement. It's nationwide so you can work in any part of the country.
Cons
Due to economic times they have reduced the hourly budget to the point where it hurts the customers. Managers (salaried) are requiered to stay on their own time (stay late, working on days off) to make up for the work not getting completed because of the stafffing cutbacks. This has led to low employee morale. If you speak up about it, the will find a way to terminate you instead of listening to their employees. Not much of a balance between a personal life and a work life. Senior management focus on the Pharmacy end of the business. There isn't a fair balance between the front store and pharmacy. It causes a rift between the employees. Store managers do not last long. They either get terminated because they were promoted too fast and weren't capable of doing the manager's job. They suffer in their own stores and get frustrated because of lack of support from upper management. If you're hired as an Assistant Mgr., you are explected to become a store manager within a year. CVS doesn't believe in "pernament" assistant managers. Some managers were very good in that capacity but were pressured to move up or risk being terminated or demoted. Vacation time was offered but as a manager, you had to find coverage for your store. Some managers lose their vacations because they can't get the coverage to run their store. Upper management give very little support in helping. Larger volume store get all the support they need. Better quality managers, more hours to work with, better working enviorment. Lower volume stores aren't treated equaly and in the end, the customer suffers.
