Pros
Saves you a trip to other convenience stores since you are already there to pick up odds and ends. Flexible if you need a day off.
Cons
No set schedule, holidays, understaffed every store you work at. Managers (all levels) do almost all stock work, customer service, unload live trucks, merchandising all during the time you are expected to do extraordinary customer service and be a back up cashier. There’s a ton of red tape. Corporate runs the show as you are their puppet. Every year sales budgets go up as associate hours go down. Technology is awful and frequently down. CVS is known for distributing coupons to customers, but often denied causing customer complaints. Extracare program is disorganized causing the coupon issues. They always look for the cheapest way out. Most easy repairs are pushed back over 6 months or canceled at corporate level without addressing employee safety or importance. Corporate send excessive stock to each store causing space issues, extra work, and outdate issues. If you are new to the company the training program is horrible. Most current managers don’t even know how to train. The ones that do, have a huge work load already so you don’t get full access to training. Vacations by managers are often non existent due to lack of help. Usually you with one cashier all day. If they call out sick, you are stuck alone. Can never take a full break each day because no one is there to cover for you.
