Pros

There are benefits to working for a large company such as security, it is well run, and name recognition.

Cons

There is no room for clinical judgement. As a nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience, I did not like being bound to strict protocols. For example, we all know that the rapid strep test is not 100% sensitive. I would get in trouble for treating a patient with strep through when I was confident of my diagnosis but the rapid strep was negative.

Pros

I cant think of any Pros at this time

Cons

When I started with CVS in 2002, it was a pretty good company to work for. But in recent years the company cut hour while expecting the same or more production. There would be stacks of prescriptions to process and patients would be to to come back tomorrow. when the patient did come back, the prescription would still not be ready. I would work over many hours EVERY week without pay to try to catch up. Many weeks I would go to the store on my day off to try to get caught up, after all I lived in the community and personally knew many of the patients. There was no time to counsel patients or review profiles. it was exceedingly unprofessional and dangerous to the patient. There were constant changes in management. They increased the metric numbers to an unreachable level, probably so that they would not have to pay bonuses. I would like to see a Pharmacist union that would stand up to CVS and protect the employees against ruthless management.

Pros

Good pay, job is not hard at all. It is easy to maintain the corner stones of a CVS store once store manager has mastered everything.

Cons

Not enough payroll to run a good store. I normally work 6 days a week to get all of the projects completed. Everything wouldn't get completed on time if I didn't work 6 days a week. Payroll is calculated by your myschedule Demand regardless of sales volume of your store.
