Pros

CVS Caremark as a PBM has a significant advantage over it's competitors due to it's unique blend of retail pharmacy and PBM. The two organizations should complement each other and produce an awesome product/service for the clients and patients they serve.

Cons

Reorganization in the PBM has left the employees with workloads that are unrealistic and that leads to significant service problems for the clients. To make matters worse, management blames the individuals for poor performance and does not take any accountability for putting their employees in bad situations. Additionally, the clients hire consulting firms that put additional pressure on the account teams.

Pros

Working in a corporate environment means we had better pay than working in the retail facilities.

Cons

Starting pay was decent, but raises were rare. Management was clueless. Quick turnover rate for the entire facility. It was a call center environment so it was extremely stressful. We had unrealistic goals for the amount of calls we should be taking (often at the customers expense). Not a lot of guidance, but a lot of critiquing from managers. Rules and procedures were changed daily and we were often not aware of these changes, but then reprimanded for them. They had completely unrealistic expectations for workers, including long hours (insane over-time we were expected to work) and insufficient breaks and lunch. For clarification purposes: this job is not in the main CVS Caremark Office, but the CVS "Customer Care Center" branch. It's pretty much a call center where we took calls from customer's and doctor's filling medications. Often customer's and doctor's would get upset because instead of being connected with the retail pharmacy they called, they were connected to us. Because of this we would have to transfer calls back to the retail pharmacies. The stores would often get upset and drop our calls, which in turn upset the customer even more. It was a new idea that was not very well thought out. I do not think this facility will last much longer. By far this was the MOST stressful job I've ever worked. I worked their for a year, and even though I've yet to find a job that pays as well, I regret not leaving sooner! My advice: STAY AWAY!

Pros

It's a paycheck 401K match is good You get a Discount at CVS - 20% off non CVS brand, 30% off CVS brand

Cons

-Yearly pay increases average 1-2% for reviews that are above average, that's when there isn't a wage freeze like in 2009 -Within the last year, CVS Caremark has reduced the PTO accrual rate, hitting employees that have been with the company over 10 years the hardest...nice way to say thanks for your commitment -Upper management disrespect and degrade employees, HR is useless, HR is there to protect the managers not the employees -If you have any type of medical issue that requires time away from work, even with approved FMLA, they will find a way to get rid of you.
