Pros
Compensation and employee perks have been reasonable. Work life balance is nice. I’ve rarely had to work past 5:30 PM and worked on a weekend only once. There are some really talented coworkers, mostly at the IC level. Diversity seems to be a reasonably high company priority. I wasn’t here before 2021 which was apparently Calendly’s heyday culturally, but I do see efforts being undertaken to make sure that people feel included.
Cons
To quote another Glassdoor review from a few months ago: "The executive team has become an echo chamber of one another all cheering on each other’s poor leadership and short sighted decisions." This by itself, while concerning, would not have required an emphasis if it didn't come at the cost of others' jobs. I understand that layoffs happen and that these aren't exactly the most lucrative times for the industry. However, that does not justify the deception that senior leadership repeatedly forced down across the rest of the company, with empty promises of having no more layoffs planned in the future, only to go through more rounds of layoffs a few months later. After having gone back on their promises multiple times and realizing that people can only be demoralized so much, it seems now that they've decided to quietly cut headcount in small amounts across each department. I've had coworkers in various teams who've all told me that a handful of people from their departments were recently let go. I know some of these people personally and have reached out to them, and they've told me that while some of their IC-level former coworkers sent them words of support and condolences, every single person from senior management collectively ghosted them. Not long after, some of these former coworkers then saw their own roles on Calendly's career site as newly opened reqs with just slightly modified job titles but with the same responsibilities and lower pay ranges. Make of that what you will. Layoffs happen. But this is a matter of how senior management handles it that speaks volumes about their attitude towards those outside of their circle of peers. Thank goodness I'm out of this sinking ship myself.
