Pros

Relatively strong employer during a period in which lenders in general are struggling. Management has done a good job of informing employees how the division, affiliates, and parent corporation are performing relatively to goals and competition.

Cons

Limited growth opportunity for credit analysts and underwriters. The company lacks some the more sophisticated technology and products commonly found at larger national lenders.

Pros

Flexible work schedule. Very family oriented. Pay is decent to start off. Benefits are good too. 401k is good compared to others.

Cons

No room for growth. Not a lot of job promotional opportunities. Incentives is not good to employees. Not enough goals within branch system to compete with other institutions.

Pros

I like that the bank is in a solid financial position and that it positions itself as a California bank, which differentiates itself from the pack of the larger, national banks.

Cons

English is my birth-language and I speak some Spanish, but there is a significant language barrier and I have difficulty understanding my co-workers. The customer base is a very different culture from mine and I feel the customers would prefer being helped by my co-workers who speak the same language and have the same background. The computer training at region headquarters is good but when I got to my branch I felt like I was abandoned and that they thought I was done being trained and that I should know everything. I've had to politely force them to show me what they want for every single task, instead of waiting to find out I did it wrong. Unlike my previous employer, it's been up to me to set up my computer programs, figure out my phone, find a decent mouse that works, etc. If I want to make any progress here, I have to fight for it constantly. I'm not sure that it's worth it.
