Pros

When I first started working here it was great because the economy was bad and EDD got flooded with money. This made overtime readily available and for the most part everyone wanted to work here . The work is challenging and the rank and file are nice people for the most part.

Cons

Most of management is reactive and not responsive. Towards the end of my tenure here most people gave up because the stock in moral dropped. This was caused by multiple things not just one issue. Cumulatively EDD has promoted a culture where issues are swept under the rug and not delt with until they have a structural defect. I really liked working here when I started however over the years my content with working here as dwindled and most of the good staff have voted with their feet and left.

Pros

Easy job, good benefits, cool coworkers for the most part, and the work environment is pretty laidback compared to most private sector jobs.

Cons

If you're not a woman or a Caucasian male, it's going to be extremely difficult to promote here. And, the salary isn't all that great.

Pros

* stable and safe secure job * compensation maxed after 5 yrs * state jobs offer good insurance and 401 with lots of time off options

Cons

* some coworkers get complacent and become bitter thus treating customers poorly * not much room for growth since managers stay in their position for several years * once you reach the top salary your extra effort won't affect your salary which encourages a "good enough for government work" mentality.
