Pros
Too many to name, but let's just hit the highlights... 1. A unique corporate strategy that is hitting a huge worldwide market opportunity perfectly and will continue to do so for years to come. 2. An amazing and collaborative culture driven by a workforce populated with folks you are not only happy to work with, but, in many many cases, wind up calling your friends. 3. A senior leadership team made up of industry veterans who, and this is such a wonderfully refreshing thing, actually try to "do the right thing". The result being corporate tactics and policies that makes sense and benefit the employees and our customers. 4. And oh yeah, an amazing set of customers and partners who share our vision of transforming the countries we work in and bridge the digital divide that exists in all of them.
Cons
The opportunity before us is so vast and compelling that, of my own volition, I push myself to work super hard and, hopefully, productively, when it's time to work. This shows up as a stress on "work/life balance" but it's a choice I'm making to drive hard given what lies before us. But it's a choice everyone needs to make. If you're looking for an "almost retirement" job, or one you can coast in, don't come to Calix! No harm, no foul, it's just not the place for you if that's what you're looking for.
