      Pros

      The research and people are among the very best in the world. I worked in several tier 1 research institutions, and Caltech definitely deserves its reputation.

      Cons

      The department in which I worked tended to be a bit too secretive in its administrative and hiring processes. Other institutions involve students and research staff more in decisions that affect the entire department, which leads to a better feeling of community.
