Pros

Seems to go through a cycle of change every 5+ years. Some opportunities for advancement during the Cycles. Work force has low turn over.

Cons

Oddly, there are few opportunities for training for the staff. JPL on the other hand spends $2500 on training per staff per year average. JPL and Caltech are basically the same entity.

Pros

Very good environment. Collaboration is highly valued and encouraged. The administration and graduate office are extremely helpful with students. You are surrounded by brilliant minds.

Cons

Caltech is a very small school which can both be good or bad. I feel like its good for collaboration and interdisciplinary fields however you don't have many choices in some of the departments on who to work with (advisers).
