Great networking opportunities and state of the art facilities.

Cons

Management has no regard for graduate students' quality of life and well-being. Highly competitive environment where ethics issues and harassment are common.

Pros

Seems to go through a cycle of change every 5+ years. Some opportunities for advancement during the Cycles. Work force has low turn over.

Cons

Oddly, there are few opportunities for training for the staff. JPL on the other hand spends $2500 on training per staff per year average. JPL and Caltech are basically the same entity.

Pros

Close-knit community, easy to talk to people and get advice, excellent resources and lab spaces, California culture and weather

Cons

Small undergraduate population can be hard on people who want to teach more, but easy on people who don't. High cost of living in SoCal means your stipend doesn't go as far as it would at Big Midwest School.
