      Pros

      Excellent resources, good tenure rate, freedom for junior profs to pursue research of their choice. A great city/region in which to live. A great place to be a WASP male.

      Cons

      Note the best place if you are interested in teaching, outreach or inclusion. This is a very narrowly focused institute that does one thing well (research) at the expense of others. Lots of elitism. Not all departments/divisions have good leadership.

      Pros

      Caltech is a wonderful research institution. It focuses on Math, Science, and Engineering. It's small and close knit environment allow for a lot of individualized attention.

      Cons

      Caltech is very focused on Math and Science and does not have as much involvement in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It is also limited in fields because it is a small school.
