      Pros

      Great environment. Friendly, collaborative. Very cool science, good talks etc. Small, close community. Access to many instruments/facilities. Location is great, small town with walking-dist amenities. Gym and cafes on site.

      Cons

      Career prospects of many prospects of many postdocs are limited. Temporary contracts.

      Pros

      Very good healthcare plans, relatively good salary, flexible hours, and a good stepping stone to a future job because Caltech is well known.

      Cons

      There is a lot of pressure, because of the prestige of Caltech, but other than that I think there are no downsides.

      Pros

      There are many things to like about working at Caltech. I worked on the LIGO project and found the people to be excellent to work with and very intelligent and talented. The project itself was a constant source of interesting technologies and challenges. Overall the campus is beautiful.

      Cons

      The office facilities where I worked were seemingly out of the 70's and in need of refurbishment. It was not a problem but not particularly nice either. There are some newer building which are nicer and there are some older buildings which have a ton of character.
