      Good research institution, in spite of admin

      Pros

      Excellent research, status, and network Can live on a stipend Housing is decent and about half of market price, which is a big deal in Pasadena

      Cons

      The point about being able to live on a stipend is only if you're in perfect health and have no dependents If you need to get anything from admin, you're in for years of struggling; nobody in admin communicates with anybody else, except apparently to stonewall requests or compliance

      Decent Pay with great benefits! The work itself isn't actually that hard.

      Cons

      Feels like you're working for an outdated company with primitive guidelines and workplace practices. I would consider staying if management was more progressive and flexible but you gotta get rid of the old headed folks running the place.
